IL Neurological Institute is planning some excellent presenters for this year’s support group meetings. As always, your input regarding potential topics is welcomed.
Our next support group meeting is July 16 at 10:00 am at the INI Neurosurgery Office, 200 E Pennsylvania Ave in Peoria. Katy Enloe, PT and Shannon Fraikes, PT will speak about the STAR program which focuses on survivorship training and rehab. We also plan to “circle up” after their talk for patients and their loved ones to share their diagnosis and treatment histories. Many have said it is helpful to hear what others have gone through and we want our attendees to feel comfortable sharing, or just listening if they prefer. There is never any pressure to speak and/or participate.
Please RSVP by July 11, 2016 by contacting Cassie Richardson, RN, CNRN, brain tumor nurse navigator, at (309) 624-4000 ext. 76503 or email email@example.com
We do not plan to meet in September as that is the month for the Mark Linder Walk for the Mind. Please put it on your calendars! Saturday, September 24 at 9:00 am at the RiverPlex on the Riverfront. Entry fee is $20 but is waived for brain tumor survivors. For more information, go their website: www.marklinderwalkforthemind.org
Dr. Andrew Tsung has graciously agreed to speak to our group in November regarding the status of his current research at UICOMP as well as current clinical trials in which we are enrolling patients. He may also speak about clinical trials going on at other facilities. We will send out the official date for that meeting once it is confirmed.
As always, please do not hesitate to contact us if there is anything we can do for you.
